APRIL 13-17- After ELA MCAS and before April Vacation, 5S had a chance to do the following:
--- We focused on energy by creating human circuits with energy sticks
---- We also had two special guests come in for 'What's My Work'.
Rohan's mom, Sadhna Brown, taught us about architecture in colonial times and Katherine's Dad, Rob Hillman, came in to teach us about public finance and how tax can be allocated.
--- We also watched a 1988 made for TV movie called April Morning about the events that began the American Revolution.
Then we headed out for April Break.
On March 31st, 5S Hosted Community Meeting!

Driscoll Had Two Days of Arts Equinox! March 23 & 24, 2017
Dance Party, Totems, 3D Birds, Kids for Kids, Circuit Drawing, Sign Language Singing, Recycled Fashion and Closing Ceremony! Lots of art, lots of movement, lots of mess, lots of fun.
3/20/17- On the first day of spring, Noa played our sun and we reviewed the revolution of the earth around the sun! Then we went out to measure our shadows. The weather was beautiful, but in true March fashion, snow was still on the ground. As many students predicted, their shadows were close in size to their own heights... EQUInox!
3/16/17: Snow days can delay...
but they cannot thwart pie-pi day in 5S
5S learned the first 26 digits of pi from a catchy (almost too catchy) song...

3/13/17 - Before switching teams, 5S looked into the eyes of a teammate and drew what they saw!
*note: my (Ms. S) cell phone/camera was making things blurry that day, which was a little ironic based on the topic...
5S attempted to take photos of old teams before going into new teams... we didn't accomplish our goal, but had some fun along the way... 5S then went into new teams to make new teams and design posters...
3/3/17- This week after the Sugar Act, Stamp act, Townsend Act, Quartering Act (also known as Intolerable Acts) all led to the final act... one of defiance! When 5S heard that Royal Governess Stark decided to name our River Table the King George English Village, instead of American Dream, they couldn't take it any more and protests erupted!
